Dear Sergio,

My friend and I are going to be in Rio from July 10 to July 13 and are hoping to see a game at Maracana Stadium. Are there any games over the course of these days, and how would we go about getting tickets/ what would the price be?

Thanks,
Aneesh

Sergio said...

Hi Aneesh,
Thanks for contacting!
From 10th to 13th July, there is only one game on 12th and it won't be in Maracana. It will be at Engenhao (new stadium) because Maracana will host a music concert next 11th.
Hope it helps. Please, contact me directly if you need further information.
Best Regards,

Hi Sergio,

We live in Hong Kong and will be in Rio Oct 1 - 4th. However, we noticed that there is a game on the 4th and we would be willing to stay an extra day if we could go!

What time is this game (or if a time isn't posted yet, what time are the games normally at)? Could we get 3 tickets from you?
Obrigada!

Sergio, we are in Rio Friday, Aug 21 - 22 and also 25th-26th. We are in Sao Paulo 23-24th of Aug. We'd ideally like to see a game in the Maracana but if that is not possible, we can watch a game in Sao Paulo. Which game do you recommend? Do you have tickets for 4 people? How much are tickets? Thanks.

Sergio said...

Hi Andy,
Thanks for visiting and posting here.
Games available for you are:
In Rio:
Aug 22 Vasco-Ipatinga - Maracana
Aug 26 Fla-Flu derby - Maracana
In São Paulo:
Aug 23 Corinthians-Botafogo - Pacaembu Stadium
The best for you to see is the derby on 26th Wed Aug, but the one on 22nd Saturday isn't bad.
Please write me directly at my e-mail and I will give you all information you need to go to these games.
Thanks again.
Sergio

Andy said...

Sergio, thanks so much for the quick response. We are leaving Rio on Wednesday evening (26th) so I don’t think the derby will work out. For the game on Saturday, Aug 22nd, can you please provide additional details and let us know what time, how we would purchase tickets, how much are tickets, how we would get there, etc? Thank you so much!

Also are the futbol games in Rio a completely different/better experience than Sao Paulo games? Because in terms of our schedule, the Sao Paulo one might work out better, but if the Rio games are much better, we’d rather change our other tour plans and watch the game in Rio.
If you wouldn’t mind giving us details for the Sao Paulo game on Sunday as well, that’d be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi. We are four girls from Norway coming to Rio for the carnaval, februart 2009 and will be staying 7-10 days after its finished. Will there be any football matches then that we can see?

And also, how is it safest for us to go, as we have read that it can be quite dangerous for 4girls to be there alone. A guide? How do we rent one? Can we rent you? haha. And how much is it?

marieskje said...

I obviously meant february 2010! :)

Hi. Thanks for contacting.
Definetely there will be a game that period. But unfortunately it won't be in Maracana that will be closed for repairing already for World Cup 2014.
The schedule will only be released at the end of this year.
Please contact me directly for more information. You can definetely be guided to the game.

Hi Sergio. I will be in Rio from 26 October to 2 November 2009 and would love to go to a game at the Maracana. Some of the fixtures lists I've seen vary. Could you please let me know what definitive games will be on at this time and what is the best way to get tickets? Many thanks (Great Blog, by the way!) Alan

Sergio said...

Hi Alan,
First of all Thanks for your kind comments!
During your period here
(26th Oct-2nd Nov) there is 2 games scheduled for Maracana:
Fluminense-Atletico on 29th October
Flamengo-Santos on 1st November.
It may have some change with the time of the game as TV decides it.
Please contact me directly for further information or check the blog again later to confirm the games.
Best Regards,
Sergio

Hi Sergio
Many thanks for that. I'll be in touch nearer the time for more information I'm sure!

Hey Sergio,

Heading to the Fla-Flu game Oct 4th. I live in Ipanema as an exchange student, and I heard that you can buy tickets at Flamengos practice field in Leblon/Gavea? Is this true, is there a ticket window there? Thanks! Brent

Sergio said...

Hi Brent.
Thanks for contacting man.
It's true that it's possible to buy ticket at Flamengo's practice field in Leblon/Gavea. But I highly recomend you not to go there. Tickets are almost soldout (almost 60.000 tickets sold until Friday night) and they will definetely be soldout Saturday morning.
Your better option is to pay more and joing a package. Write me directly if you need more information.
Best Regards,
Sergio

ALAN WOODS said...

Hi Sergio
I wrote to you a while ago about games at the Maracana when I'll be in Rio later in October. You mentioned two games:

Fluminense-Atletico on 29th October
Flamengo-Santos on 1st November.

Could you now please let me know what is the best way to get tickets for either of these games?

Thanks for all your help.

Alan

Sergio said...

Hi Allan,
As I said before, tickets are put on sale at the Clubs (Flamengo and Fluminense) and at Maracana a few days before the game (they may be on sale from 26th or 27th)
If you don't want to join a package tour (ticket and transport included), you need to try to get tickets as any local do. One sinlgle ticket cost 30 Reais for a good place. Please, contact me directly at my e-mail at anytime if you need further information!
Thanks again.
Cheers,
Sergio

Hi, Can you tell me when the 2010 schedule will be out? We'll be in Rio near the end of Jan 2010 and I wondered if there's any games on then or do they not play during the summer?
Thanks

Sergio said...

Hi Carly,
Thanks for visiting the blog.
The 2010 football schedule may be released at first days of December.
But 2 things I can tell you now:
First is that Maracana is suposed to be closed next year for repairing for World Cup 2014 (and why not to say Olympic Games 2016). Games will then be played to new stadium nicknamed Engenhao.
Secondly is that the football season usually starts at middle of January. So if you're here at the end of January you have good chance to attend a football game. It will just not be in Maracana.
Please contact me directly if need further information and visit the blog again later: I will post there the 2010 schedule as soon as I get it.
Best regards,
Sergio

There is a game on 7th March: Fluminense-Botafogo. Tickets will be on sale probably from Tuesday and cost 40 Reais for a good seat.

Thanks for contacting me.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your contact.
While Maracana will be closed (until 2012 I guess), most games in Rio will be played at new Engenhao Stadium. I'm not sure if I will continously go for games there. But will definetelly publish here the schedule for anyone interested in football games in Rio.
Please contact me directly if need further information, ok? I will be pleased to help you.

Hi Sergio,

I want to go to the Flamengo V Botafogo match on 14th July 2010 but I am aware this is a derby. Will i be able to get tickets if i turn up a few hours before kick off?

Also, are there many taxis around after the match? this is the safest way to get home, right?

Thanks a lot. Very much appreciated.

Sergio said...

Hi Dorris,
Thanks for contacting.
Tickets for that game will be available about a week before. (cost around 40 reais). Usually at derbies it's possible to get tickets at the same day. Just show up about 2h before the game to avoid the crowd...
Write me directly if need further information, ok?
Taxis are available in front of Maracana exits. Just leave 5 minutes earlier to avoid the crowd.
There is also a subway.
Best Regards,
Sergio
