I am going to be in Rio the first week of April and would love to see a game in Maracana. What would be the best game to see between April 2 and April 6-7?

Sergio said...

Hi Owen.
Thanks for your message.
Well, if you're staying from 2 and 7 april, the only game you can attend is the one on the 2nd april. You won't be disapointed. It will be the first game of the Rio's championship final and definetely worth it going.
Cheers.
Sergio.

Hey Maraca,

I´m heading to Rio on the 12th of April and will be there 4 or 5 days. Which Maracaña games are best during that time? Do I need to buy tickets in advance or just show up at the stadium? How much should I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Ben

Sergio said...

I think that the most interesting game for you would be the local derby because you have two supporters group from Rio, but Flamengo would not be bad neither... It's better to buy in advance when it's about a local derby or an important game, but you probably can buy tickets 2 or 1 hour before that game. The expensiver ticket costs 50 Reais and a medium one costs 20 Reais and the cheaper costs 15 Reais. If you go by yourself its better go by taxi. You can contact me if you're in a mood of going.
You're welcome!

Sergio said...

Hi Stephen,
The game you mention is Botafogo X Santos (SP).
Although both are great teams, in this case you don't need to buy tickets in advance. The game won't be full. You can buy tickets 2 hours before the game in the stadium.
Some people don't feel confortable going to the game by themselves so they can count on me. Otherwise you can take a taxi and go by yourself. You do what you feel more confortable. I'm just a guide for those interested in getting into there with a local.
In the previous message I put the tickets prices and if you decide to come with me you won't pay much more than a two way cab ride.
Thanks for visiting the blog!
You can contact me anytime.
Best regards.
Sergio.

Hello,

My wife and I will be in Rio from December 8th to the 12th and would like to see a game at Maracana...are there any games during that time?

Erich

Sergio said...

Hi Eric.
Unfortunately, the Brazilian championship ends Dec 3rd. You would need to antecipate your trip to see a game...
But you can still visit the stadium. It costs about 7US and you visit the field and players bathrooms. It opens every day for visiting...
Sorry.

Hello Sergio,

I will be in Rio with a friend the middle of September 2007. Would it be possible to catch the Vasco Flamengo game with you? Do you think tickets would be available or do you think the match will be sold out?

Yours,

Stephen

Sergio said...

Hi Stephen,
It's too early to say, but I don't think tickets will be sold out! But definetely it will atract lots of people, cause it's a local derby.
You may catch the game with me. Please e-mail me directly (see my profile).

Hello Sergio,

Thank you for your blog. It is so interesting and informative. I have traveled the world and Rio is one of my favorite cities. I am coming back to Rio and I am bringing three friends who have never been to your country. They are very excited. We are visiting from May 8th thru May 12th. We would love to attend a game. Could you please advise us on how to obtain tickets and the best way for us to get to the stadium? We are staying in Ipanema/Copacabana.

Sergio said...

Hi Bridget,
Thanks for your comments!! Very kind.
During your staying, you can attend the game on 11th may: Flamengo vs Santos (it's from Sao Paulo) at 6:10pm. It's for Brazilian Championship.
Tickets will only be on sale a few days before and won't be soldout. They cost from 20 to 120 Reais. But a good seat are at yellow section by 30 Reais.
I will go for this game with some others. Contact me directly for further information.
Cheers.

Hello there, nice blog!

I will be travelling on my own in Rio in the first week of June and was looking a options for a game.

Of course there is the small matter of the Copa Liberatodres semi-final versus Boca, or the saturday game between Flamengo and Fluim.

What are the best ways to go about getting a ticket for one of these games?

Thanks!

Sergio said...

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for visiting the blog.
Well, the Fla-Flu game on Sunday
1st June will definetely be easier to buy ticket. Probably arriving earlier at Maracana will be enough.
For Libertadores semi-final you will have to fight a war to get a ticket!!
Tickets for both games will be put on sale during this week.
Contact me directly for further information.
Regards.

Hi Sergio,

I will be visiting Rio September 4-16th and would love to see the Fluminense vs. Gremio game at Maracana and the Brazil vs. Bolivia game at Engennhao. Can you please tell me when, where and how I can purchase VIP tickets in advance for a decent price so that I don't have to wait in line on game-day? How much do you think each ticket will go for? I would also like to know how much you would charge to accompany me to each game? Thanks in advance for your help. I appreciate it.

Lucia

Sergio said...

Hi Lucia,
Thanks for visiting the blog and contacting me!
Well, for the game Flu vs Gremio it's ok, but for Brazil's game, I'm afraid that you will have trouble to get tickets. It will be soldout at first day of purchase. Tickets will be put on sale at about 10 days before Brazil's game and people start line the previous day... For local game it's easier and cheaper.
Please, write me directly for further information on how to get to a game in Maracana.
Best regards, Sergio

hey mate, am gonna be in Rio on the weekend of the 27-28th sept, what game would you recommend going to at the maracana? i want a good atmosphere!

Sergio said...

Hi Douglas,
Thanks for passing by!
Well both games have their own atractions man!
The game on 27th, saturday is in MARACANA stadium (wich is an atraction itself) and is played by Flamengo wich is the most popular team in Brazil!
The game on 28th, sunday is at new stadium Engenhao and is a local derby (2 big teams from Rio).
I would go to Maracana with no doubt! ;-)
Best, Sergio

freddi said...

oh too bad about the brazil-columbia game, isn´t there ANY possibilities to get a ticket(black market or?)
what about the local derby a few days later?

Sergio said...

Hi Freddi,
Thanks for contacting.
Tickets for Brazil vs Colombia next 15th october aren't yet on sale. It has to be in the next days.
The derby on 19th is Vasco vs Flamengo and will be played in Maracana. Tickets for that game will be put on sale a few days before the game...
Contact me directly if in need of further information!
Best regards,
Sergio

I'm going to be in Rio in March 2009. Do you think I would be able to get tickets to the Vasco v Flamengo game on the 22nd? If so, do I need to buy in advance, where from, and how much should I pay?

Sergio said...

Hi Mark, Thanks for contacting.
Please, feel free to write me directly if you want further information, ok?
About that game on 22nd, tickets will be only available about a week before. It's a local derby but I don't think it will be soldout (it hardly is).
One single ticket cost 30 Reais, but you may expect to pay around 100 Reais to a package (ticket + transport).
Best regards,
Sergio

Hi Sergio

I'm going to be in Rio for 5-6 days over carnival this year and I'd like to see a game at Maracana. Is it possible to buy tickets a few days before the match or will ticket be sold out in advance?

I've found a few tour companies in Rio selling tickets but the prices are around USD$60 each..?

Thanks for your help

Cynthia

Sergio said...

HI Cynthia,
Thanks for contacting.
Well tickets for any game are only available about a week before the game and they cost today:
40 Reais (upper white section - ARQUIBANCADA BRANCA)
30 Reais (upper green and yellow sections - ARQUIBANCADA VERDE or AMARELA)
20 Reais (lower blue section - CADEIRA AZUL)
120 Reais (upper blue section - CADEIRA ESPECIAL).
They are put o sale (at the clubs involved and at Maracana) about a week before each game. Some games are really difficult to get tickets and many other are easier. During carnaval there are the semi-finals wich means more difficulties to buy them. They can be soldout, of course, depending on the interests of the fans!!!
Please few free to contact me directly if need more information.
Best,
Sergio

I will be in Rio from April 4th - April 8th and I would like to see the Flamengo vs Fluminense Derby at Maracana. I am outside of Brazil at present. How can I get tickets?

Sergio said...

Hi there.
Thanks for visiting by.
You can't purchase football ticket online. They put tickets on sale about a week before the game at some places (at the clubs and at maracana). They cost from 20 Reais to 120 Reais for one single ticket.
Please contact me directly if you need further information, ok?
Best Regards,
Sergio

Hi Sergio...my wife and I are coming to Rio from April 19-25. I believe the only game being played during our stay is on April 19 @ 4pm? Can you confirm? Also, will we be able to purchase tickets on the day of the match? Or can we purchase tickets in advance?

Thanks!
Clement

Sergio said...

Hi Clement,
Thanks for visiting!!!
So far the only game scheduled for that period is the final on 19th April. There is a possibility that we have a game on 22nd April, but it depends on previous games for Brazil's Cup (knock out games).
The game on 19th is Rio's Cup final game and probably will be soldout before the day of the game. It's kind of risky to let to last minute. Tickets will be on sale about a week before.
Please contact me directly, if you need further information.
Best regards,
Sergio

Do you thik it will be a good game?

There is obviously be big difference in price between the best seats and the cheaper ones. Does it make that much of a difference?

Cheers,

Hi,
I'll be in Rio from the 16th of June to the 20th, and I see that there's only one game during that time period and that it's tentative.

June 17th Wed – May have a game for Brazil’s Cup

When will it be determined if there's a game or not, and how should I get tickets if there is a game?

Thanks for the advice!
Erica

Sergio said...

Hi Erica,
Sorry for the delayed answer. I was out of the country.
There won't have any game in Maracana at that mentioned period, because the teams from Rio had lost their previous games.
Sorry.
Best regards,
Sergio

Hi Sergio

I´m thinking about going to the Flamengo v Sao Paulo game this Saturday at the Maracana - do you think this will be a good game to attend? Any idea if Adriano is likely to be playing? I arrived in Rio yesterday, and went straight to see Fluminese v Corinthians, but was a little disappointed by the atmosphere - do you think it will be better and a fuller stadium on Saturday?

thanks a lot!

TIm

Sergio said...

Hi Tim, Thanks for your contact.
Adriano isn't playing next Saturday because he is at Brazil vs Bolivia game in la Paz on Sunday (watch TV at 5pm Sunday).
Definetely on Saturday we will have a bigger attendance because Flamengo fans are more motivated. Don't believe it will be soldout but much more than yesterday game.
Please feel free to contact me directly at my e-mail if you need further information on the game.
Best regards,
Sergio

What would be the best game to attend in late Aug early Sept?

Sergio said...

Hi.
Thanks for visiting the blog. Remember that Maracana will probably be closed by August.
Any game that you might attend is a good option. These games are for Brazilian Championship and Flamengo is actual champion. More or less people get interested in the game depending on the qualifying stands...

Sergio

Hey Sergio,
I am flying over to Rio this weekend, and I am interested in going to the game on 28th Sunday 6.30pm Vasco x Fluminense. I would like to know how can get tickets, or can I just get them at the stadium the day of the game?
Also I want to know, in case I do not make it to the game this sunday is there any tours of the stadium offered to tourist? I am a big fan of football and i must visit the stadium while I am there.

Thank You,
Jon

Sergio said...

Hi Jon,
Thanks for contacting.
This game next Sunday 28th won't be soldout but tickets can't be bought at Maracana at the day of the game. You must buy in advance or at Vasco or Fluminense club on Sunday.
Tourists can visit the stadium every day from 9am to 5pm. At a day's game, visiting ends 4 hours before the game.
Contact me directy if need further information.
Best regards,
Sergio

Dear Sergio! Me and a few friends are coming to Rio in August and I'm so sad to hear that the stadium will be closed then! :(
We'll be in Rio from around aug 19th - aug 30th...
what's the next best alternative to catch a football game in Rio at that time?

Sergio said...

Hi Sahar,
Thanks for visiting by.
Yes, sadly Maracana will be closed
very soon. We don't know yet where most of Flamengo and Fluminense games will be played. Please check the blog again later on to confirm the venues...
But during your staying here there a few games:
21st Botafogo RJ x Avai SC - Engenhão Stadium
22nd Vasco RJ x Fluminense RJ ????
25th Botafogo RJ x Ceará CE - Engenhão Stadium
26th Flamengo RJ x Atlético MG ????
28th Vasco RJ x Cruzeiro MG - São Januário Stadium
29th Fluminense RJ x São Paulo SP ????
I would recomend the game on 22nd because it's a local derby and the ones on 26th and 29th, but still you need to knw where the games will be played...
Please feel fre to contact me directly if need more information.
Best Regards,
Sergio
