Information on Football Game at Maracana Stadium
Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

Hi. My name is Sergio and I'm a football fan. I created this blog to update anyone interested in seeing a game in Maracana stadium. Here you will find updated schedule for games at Maracana: friendly games, Brazilian League, Brazilian Cup, Rio de Janeiro State League, Brazilian National Team games, etc.
Surrounding the stadium you can find cold beers, Brazilian teams flags and hats, grilled meat, hotdog, jerseys and anything one could want for refreshment and eating. The high level stands (arquibancadas) are the better place to see the game. That section is much more exciting and will afford you a better time. Games start around 4 or 6pm on Sunday and Saturday and 8:30pm or 9:45pm on wednesday and thursday.
Ask me if you're in a mood of a game. I can safely drive you there, just in the middle of the crowd. Be a local there is priceless! The athmosphere is worth it!!!
Rio's 4 big Rio teams are: Flamengo, Botafogo, Vasco da Gama and Fluminense.

Salut.

Hi Mark. The game scheduled for wednesday night 8th november is Fluminense x Ponte Preta (from Sao Paulo) at 8:30pm (but it's better to confirm before). Tickets will only be available a few days before the game, but it won't be necessary to buy in advance. You have 3 options to go to the game: by yourself (using taxis preferably), tourists boring groups or with a nice local: me.
;-)
If you want, I can arrange tickets, transport and guidance for you. Feel free to contact me directly!
Thanks!

Hi Julie,
There is a game on Sunday 17th Fluminense (from Rio) x Figueirense (from the country's south) and tickets won't be soldout. It's estimated about 10.000 people attendance only.
You can go by yourself (using taxis preferably), with big tourists groups or with a nice local like me. ;-)
I'm a tour guide and if you want, I can arrange tickets, transport and guidance for you. Feel free to contact me directly!
Thanks for visiting my blog!

I will be in Rio on Nov 18 and 19 and would like to go to a game. 18 would be better. Can you give me any details?
I have already been to a game there. I lived in Rio 99-01 and have been back 4 times since. I will be coming with my two brothers.
Thanks

Hello!
I am coming to Rio in either April or May 2007. Is the game schedule already posted somewhere or do I need to wait to find out about 2007?
Thanks!
Melinda

Sergio said...

Hi Melinda.
The schedule for 2007 isn't yet released, but definetely there will be games in Maracana in April and May. The schedule may be released at the end of this year, but I will be updating this blog very often, so visit this blog later, to find out 2007 schedule.
Thanks.

Hi Miram,
Unfortunately there is no game in Maracana during those periods you've mentioned: 19-21 jan and 26-30 jan 2007. I'm sorry.
Tha competition starts next 24th and the 4 big teams will be playing outside Rio, during your second staying in Rio:
28th Jan Americano X Flamengo 18:10 in Campos
28th Jan Friburguense X Vasco 18:10 in Friburgo
28th Jan Volta Redonda X Fluminense 16:00 in Volta Redonda
31st Jan Cabofriense X Botafogo 20:30 in Cabo Frio
Contact me again if reschedule your trip.
Thanks for visiting the blog.

Sergio said...

Hi Miran,
If you like football it's really something you must consider to do: see a game in Maracana.
Tickets to the game on 25th (next thursday 8:30pm Flamengo x Cabofriense) cost 20 Reais and can be bought at the same day (I'm considering tha this game won't be sold out because they increased prices and the supporters are very upset). But it's worth seeing because it's the first game of the season for Flamengo (the most popular team in Brazil) and supporters are excited about Flamengo being in the Libertadores Cup this year (kind of Continental Champions League).
I ask you 3 people 60 Reais each with tickets included of course. You just need to confirm your interest and tell me where you are staying. Please, contact me directly at my e-mail and I will give you further information for our meeting. Hope it's fine with you.
Cheers.
Sergio

We are planning a trip to Rio on the first week of November 2007 and want to know if there are any games scheduled for those dates in Maracana? I would specially love to see a Flamengo soccer game!

Sergio said...

Hi Andrea.
It's too early to have the schedule. We are now playing the States championship all over Brazil. The National League will start on May and end in December. They will probably release the schedule in April. Hopefully the weekend you will be here we will have a game in Maracana and with Flamengo playing! ;-))

Sam said...

Hi Sergio

I will be in Rio for both the state championship matches on 29 April & 6 May and would love to see 1 of these games.
Is it possible to book tickets in advance for either of these games or will we be able to buy tickets on the day?
Thanks very much for your help.
Sam

Sergio said...

Hi Sam,
Thanks for contacting.
Well, tickets are only available a few days before the game and can't be booked trough internet. Flamengo is already qualifyed for those games (it was Champion of Guanabara's Cup) and it's the most popular team in Brazil. One can expect a big interest on those games...
Feel free to contact me directly anytime.
Cheers
Sergio

Oi Sergio!
We are looking at going along to the Botafogo Flamengo game on Weds 29th Aug 2007. We see you offer to take people along. How much are tickets normally and how much do you charge for your services? Do you think this one will be a sell out?

Thanks mate
Clare & James (Aussies)

Sergio said...

Hi Aussies,
Definetely derbies atracts more people, but I don't think this game will be sold out, although it's a local derby.
Tickets aren't on sale yet and costs about 20-25 Reais.
I ask for my ticket and the transport.
Contact me directly if interested and I can give you further information.
Thank you for contactting.
Cheers
Sergio

HI sergio
arrving in Rio on 17th October from UK with my husband and son (14 years old). I have noticed there is a world cup qualifier that night. How easy will it be to get tickets for this game. How much will they cost? Do they have to be bought in advance.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Michelle

Sergio said...

Hi Michelle,
It's too early to know, but definetely people will kill to see this game. Last time Brazil national team played in Maracana was in 2001. People are really thisrty to see Kaka, Ronaldinho and Cia playing in Maracana.
Tickets will be put on sale before and it will be very hard to get them. They will probably cost more than local games. I guess cheaper price will be around 50 Reais. I want to go to this game and I'm sure I will have to take a line for a long time...
You can contact me later (see my e-mail at my profile) and have fresh news about this game.

Hi - My husband & I will be traveling to Rio from 23rd Nov - 6th Dec for our honeymoon :) Are there any tickets available for the Sunday 25th Nov match? Thanks - Tarryn

Sergio said...

Hi Tarryn,
Yes, tickets are already on sale for that game. It costs 25 Reais. Part of the tickets will sold at promotional prices and other part is on sale already ( including through internet at www.ingressofacil.com.br )
Another option for you is to join a tour to the game (ticket and transport). Ask your hotel reception.
Regards. Sergio

Sergio, I want to surprise my husband with tickets to a game while we are in Rio. He is a fanatic! We are there from 27 Dec to 3 January. Please let me know if there are any games scheduled and if so, how we can get tickets. Thank you!

Hi Audrey,
I'm sad to inform you that there is no game in Rio from 27th december to 3rd january. The season ends on 2nd december and will start again on 16th january. It's the biggest holiday in Brazil. I guess you might convince him to come back again some other time. ;-)))

Hi Sergio

Thank you for the information. Are you able to take us to the game on Nov 25th or do we have to take a tour? We would like to go to the game with you if possible (2 tickets for my husband and I). Please let me know if that is OK and what time/details you need.

Also - if possible, please send me your google email address so that I can send emails separately from the blog website.

Thanks
Tarryn

Sergio said...

Hi Tarryn,
My e-mail can be found at my profile information. Please check it there.
About the game on 25th, it's been changed since Flamengo will probably play with no public (punishment for having had a beer can trown in the pitch by their fans during another previous game). It might have another game on the 24th (saturday). Please e-mail me for further informations.
Thanks.
Sergio.
